Telstra was on the hunt for some authentic talent to help educate customers on the wonders of 5G. A real surfer and a real fitness expert explaining the benefits of 5G in their language.

Telstra, Australia’s leading provider of mobile & home phones, broadband internet are now launching their new 5G offering. To create the ad campaigns for this launch, they were on the hunt for some real talent, with real skills, not just a pretty face.

They posted a job on seeking one highly confident surfer and one fitness guru who can be featured in their online content using exercise/surfing as an analogy for their telco product.

With over 9,000 talent on the platform, they quickly found what they were looking for. They received over 30 suitable applicants for each role and quickly settled on Laura Kinnear & Todd Liubinskas.

Laura is a former Billabong professional surfer while Todd is an ex-professional sportsman, personal trainer, & fitness director at Men’s Health Magazine.

The brand set usage of 3 years online buy out, & the content has seen great engagement across social & online. Both the talent also shared the final videos with their own audience on social media – an additional win for the brand!
