We’ve loved getting to know the NZ market and meet so many talented creatives, including the gorgeous model Gemma Jade! We sat down with Gemma to get to know her and her modelling journey, all the way to the cover of Headway Magazine!

Tell us about how you got started modelling

I was asked by a friend from University to participate in the Collective event with L’Oréal and loved it! From there I began networking, and I guess the rest is history!

Whats the best campaign you’ve ever worked on and why?

I absolutely loved working with Rodney Wayne. The team are so talented and Richard Kavanagh’s technology we were lucky enough to preview was amazing! It was also my first campaign as an independent model and was a huge confidence boost that the New Zealand industry showed interest in independent models.

How do you think the modelling industry in New Zealand has changed in the last 12 months?

Models are becoming empowered thanks to platforms such as theright.fit integrating with instagram allowing them to act independently.

You also have over 1,000 followers on instagram. Tell us about the work you do as an influencer?

I am lucky to have the opportunity to represent some awesome brands which provide opportunities I may not have otherwise. Recently I was fortunate enough to spend the day at Archie Brothers Arcade as an influencer which was super fun!

Top Tip for anyone wanting to get into modelling?

Don’t doubt yourself. A good attitude and willingness to learn is all you need for a great career in the fashion industry.

Favourite New Zealand fashion or beauty labels everyone should check out?

I absolutely love 8 Minute skincare, their masks are so replenishing! Stella + Gemma statement earrings are also a favourite! Both brands are great kiwi quality and essentials in my routine.
