Models aren’t just, well, models! These individuals balance busy lives as business owners, athletes, holistic health professionals, students, actors, presenters and more. It’s still important to have fun in the downtime as well. Jean (Johnny) Simon does it all, and always impeccably dressed at the same time. We had a chat to him about how he will be up to this summer…
Right now I’m listening to…
The Avener… Drop everything and go get their album ‘The Wandering of the Avener’.. you won’t regret it! Kygo, Calvin Harris, Rudimental, Aviici, Martha Wainwright.. a major musical influence in my life. No one bleeds emotions like she does.. and an incredible live singer too, Gavin DeGraw, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald!
My wardrobe consists of…
I like to play with simple block colour items; nice lines & cut, good quality fabrics in a variety of colours. I complete my looks with funky accessories (leather bracelet, hats, watches, bright shoes etc.) I don’t shy away from bold colours, but better limit yourself to one item in each outfit or you’ll look like a clown 😉
My favourite job to date would be…
It was for a Bonds TVC, we shot through the night in a Big W! 4 girls, 4 guys and 20 extras jumping around at 4am in a Big W store in nothing but undies… You get the picture… hilarious!
Words to live by…
Is life not a thousand times too short for us to bore ourselves?
What I will be doing this summer…
Go on weekends away by the beach in the South Coast with good friends, have BBQ and cocktails by the pool if I get the chance!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given in your modelling career…
Work as many different roles on set as you can (Stylist, Assistant, Make-up/Hair, Production, Photographer & Talent), it’ll give everyone role’s perspective and an improved ability to make their job easier.
What’s your favourite thing about the modelling industry…
Meeting new inspiring and talented people everyday and be a part of a collective creative process.
How do you keep your body in such amazing shape…
I’m an ex professional athlete and I’m used to keeping it varied so the training doesn’t become stagnant and you are consistently working different areas of your body. Weight training, running, swimming and dancing are my main ones. I also do a lot of hiking and tennis when I get the chance!
