ORANGE is an exciting short film, written and directed by Henry Yuan for his capstone university project at the University of Technology Sydney.
ORANGE is a black comedy about a young aspiring actor who struggles to perform his lines with a sense of grief and goes to the extremes to learn to tap into his emotions. Heavily inspired by Martin McDonagh, the film serves as a comment on the excessive amounts of violence in the media that has led to the de-sensitization of our youth to violence, death and gore. It also critiques the current state of society, how we value inanimate objects over the lives of others, and how we so easily pick what would benefit ourselves than to sacrifice a little for the benefit of the many. ORANGE also utilizes the comedy genre to make light of a confronting subject matter and explores difficult issues to provoke discomfort and serious thought, whilst also providing amusement for audiences. The themes explored in this short film are quite adult, with implied violence, but no sex scenes or drug use.
Auditions will be held on Wednesday 14th September from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Filming will be conducted in Sydney from Monday 19th September to Wednesday 21st September.
Unfortunately, as ORANGE is being made on such a small budget, we are unable to provide financial compensation for involvements in the project, though all cast and crew will receive full credits, a copy of the finished product, and our never ending gratitude and promotion of their contributions. Should the film incur funding at a later date, these financial terms can be renegotiated.
