Farewell 2016, you’ve been incredible.
Every year has its special qualities, special events and things that happen that we can’t control but appreciate. For me, 2016 has gone beyond any of my wildest expectations. It was nothing short of spectacular.
As we draw to the close of this remarkable year, and before the craziness of the silly season kicks in, I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on it and thank the people who made it so wonderful.
As you may or may not know, in March this year we launched an ambitious project to disrupt the talent industry in the most positive of ways. To bring talent and clients closer together and offer a host of worthwhile benefits to both sides. We called it theright.fit and it aimed to make it easier, faster and more cost effective to book talent through our online platform.
I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the creative community for embracing it. As of now, we have over 6,000 talent on theright.fit. It’s been a pleasure to get to know so many of these people, share in their visions, their hopes and creative pursuits. Through it, I’ve seen some of the most exciting campaigns in the 15 years I’ve been in the industry. I am so grateful to be a part of this journey with each and every one of you. We will continue to work together to make the platform an even better place to help you build and control your careers.
I want to thank the boldness of our clients, who believed in us, who understood our desire to make the process of creating content faster, more efficient and more affordable. Who recognised a good idea when they saw it and started using it to superb effect.
Clearly every great startup needs a team of people who make the magic happen on a daily basis. They are the ducks swimming across the pond. Calm above the surface, but with legs pumping for all they’re worth below.
I want to acknowledge and thank all of my wing men and women – our internal team who have put so many hard yards into making theright.fit a reality and a successful reality at that. Without your undying belief in the idea, it would never have happened. Thank you for seeing the vision, embracing it wholeheartedly and pushing it further and further.
And my final thank you goes to our investors, strategic partners and board who saw the vision, liked it and backed it. For me, 2016 will always be special because I met you and was able to glean even a small part of your knowledge and experience.
2016 was the year I watched an idea turn into a reality. First the launch, then acceptance in the market, then raising capital and then the work itself. I was overjoyed when I saw our first client’s campaign on TV and when I drove past a billboard filled exclusively with theright.fit talent.
It wasn’t easy. There were a lot of late nights grinding it out in the office, and all the trial and tribulations of #startuplife. The twists and turns I could never have predicted when starting out. Chaotic at times, but I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
I wish you all a beautiful festive season, surrounded by those you love, sharing in the gratitude of all the things the past year has brought to you. And I look forward to 2017 and sharing an even brighter year with you.
Again, and very sincerely, thank you all.
