Check out the below media release featuring KASH O who was the winner of The Fashion Chute!

“The Style Doctor wins Fashion’s top prize at Royal Randwick

Kash O’Hara, Head Stylist at The Style Doctor was the overall winner of The Fashion Chute at Royal Randwick on Saturday 8th April.

The Fashion Chute, an artistically inspired space, is a new and innovative way to judge the fashion at the races which has taken over the traditional Fashions on the Field competition. The Fashion Chute presented by theraces.com.au and aligned with the Australian Turf Club, is the first event of it’s kind at Sydney’s Autumn Carnival.

Kash beat over 500 entrants over the 4 week Autumn Carnival held at both Rosehill Gardens and at Royal Randwick to take out the ‘Overall Winner’ category winning her a trip for two to Europe flying Emirates with a race day experience at Prix de Longines including access to Chantilly racecourse and tickets in the official Longines function. Prizes also included at Vogue Styling

session, a Myer Gift Card, a Cerrone jewellery voucher, a ‘The Star’ experience and a Moet and Chandon cellars experience in France making the total prize in excess of $25,000.

The final award was judged by a panel of esteemed judges including Edwina McCann, Editor-in-Chief at Vogue Australia; designers Alexandra and Genevieve Smart from Ginger and Smart; Nerida Winter, the Official Milliner to the Australian Turf Club; and Robert Carroll from The Strand Hatters.

“I am so shocked and beyond excited to win in front of a judging panel of people who I all admire. I want to thank all the sponsors and everyone involved in this amazing event and giving designers, milliners and stylists like me an opportunity to showcase their work,” Kash O’Hara said when winning the award.

Kash runs her own fashion styling business called The Style Doctor and has helped create many race wear looks for her clients over the years and has some great relationships with some Sydney milliners including Jane Stoddart who created a leather turban for Kash’s headwear.

“I have done three of Jane Stoddart’s millinery courses before and I wanted to create a turban for my racewear look but my turban didn’t turn out the way I had hoped so I called Jane in the week before Derby Day to ask her to create a black leather turban for me. She did an incredible job and I am so happy that Jane is part of the win too”, Kash said about Jane.

Kash first entered The Fashion Chute on the Championships Day 1which meant Kash’s look was in line with the traditional black and white colours of Derby Day.

Her white dress was by Australian Designer, Ellery, her shoes to her own admission were a huge splurge bought at Harrolds in Westfield in the city and are by Saint Laurent, she had a black purse from Mon Purse with her ‘The Style Doctor’ business initials monogrammed on the purse ‘TSD’, and gloves from fascinators.com.au.

Kash had her make up done by Jules Cachia and her hair by Shantel Skinner which complemented her chic, fashion forward and stylish look.”
