About Stephanie M

  • After completing 28 episodes as choreographer for the international children’s dance/music television program ‘The Fo Fo Figgily Show’ in Abu Dhabi in October 2015, Stephanie Maddren returned to Australia to give birth to her first child. She will return to choreograph for the next two series of the program but until filming commences, will remain in Australia to continue her performance and teaching careers.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 2007, Stephanie came to national attention as a competitor on the original series of So You Think You Can Dance. Immediately after the television show, Stephanie was asked by the competition’s judge, Jason Coleman, to become his head contemporary teacher at his brand new studio, ‘Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance’ in Melbourne. Although young for this position, Stephanie had previously studied under Sue Peacock, Nanette Hassall, Sandra Parker and Rosalind Newman at WAAPA and spent an extended time on secondement at Expressions Dance Co in Brisbane, working with Justin Rutzou giving her a wealth of experience to share in her classes.

Stephanie relocated to Melbourne for the opportunity to teach, but her reputation from the television show compelled her to also combine her teaching program with a busy commercial dance performance schedule throughout Australia and New Zealand.

From early 2008, Stephanie established very strong relationships and continued performance dance credits alongside Australia’s top commercial choreographers including Alana Scanlon, Sally Clark, Marco Panzic, Mashum Liberta and Debbie Graham.

Stephanie has also continued to perform as a contemporary and ballet dancer throughout the country as a soloist performing in venues including the Sydney Opera House (Unleashed Awards opening solo/duo), the Crown Palladium, Melbourne (NewYears Eve performances), the Quarry Amphitheatre, Perth (Visible Dance Co’s season “Sphere”).

Stephanie began modelling at the age of 17 and has since had much success both nationally and overseas. Recently, she headed such long running advertising campaigns for brands as Zoggs International, NIB Health Insurance, Fosters, Blanco & Szabo.

Stephanie was everything we wanted and more. She turned up on time, braved the cold and kept on smiling right through the shoot. Totally professional and a real pleasure to work with. We are so happy she was able to be part of our campaign.
