Cara Koenen

Born on Magnetic Island, Cara Koenen was a foundation player for the Sunshine Coast Lightning ahead of the club’s inaugural season in 2017. After waiting in the wings for multiple seasons, 2019 marked the opportunity for Koenen to play consistent minus, after announcing herself to the league, Koenen was selected into the Diamonds Development Squad. In 2020, Koenen re-signed ahead of the season start with the Lightning. During the 2021 season, Koenen managed to play her 50th national league game and only ever represented the Lightning in the Suncorp Super Netball League. Koenen made her Diamonds debut in 2021 in the Constellation Cup against New Zealand and has recently been announced in the squad to play at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in 2022.
