About
Hi! I’m Chloe Sargeant. I’m a 30-year-old writer, social media producer, and a queer and disabled loudmouth who proudly hails from the northern suburbs of South Australia, Kaurna land. I currently live on Gadigal land (Sydney) with my ridiculous smoosh-faced cat, Noodle.
I am advocate, speaker and influencer who creates content about the lived experience of being LGBTQIA+ and disabled / chronically ill.
I’ve had writing work published by SBS, ABC, Wedestrian, Junkee, Teen Vogue, Archer Magazine, Sydney Morning Herald, Concrete Playground, Broadsheet, Vogue Italia, and Rip It Up.
I won Journalist of the Year at the 2017 Australian LGBTI Awards, and was a featured author in the 2018 anthology, ‘Going Postal: More Than Yes Or No’ and 2020 anthology ‘New Voices on Food’.
I also have a regular monthly column about chronic illness and disability on Junkee, called ‘Chronic and Iconic’.
I co-host Chronically Fully Sick, a chaotic yet endearing podcast about being a young person living with chronic illness. CFS is about having a laugh, a vent, and giving people a reprieve from the serious side of life with illness and disability. (Strong language warning, soz.)
I also work as a freelance illustrator, and create ‘spoonie’ designs and digital illustrations about chronic illness, disability, and mental health, which you can see here.
