Daniel Luxford

Daniel began his career shooting skateboarders on the streets of Perth. Street photography gave him an eye to capture spontaneity and movement in his subjects – a skill that he has transferred into his unique fashion imagery. His time shooting in London with some of the UK’s major Photographers has really cemented his love for the craft. Daniel grew up at Mullaloo Beach in Perth, With fond childhood memories of travelling the vast state of Western Australia in search of the perfect shot, the back window of the car framing the landscape, he recalls his dad photographing crocodiles, or hanging out of planes, just to get “the one”. An avid skateboarder from the age of 3, Daniel suffered an ankle injury at 25, putting him on the sidelines. He immediately took up photographing his skateboarding friends, many of whom went on to professional skating careers; painstakingly learning the art of lighting, exposure, composition, and especially how to avoid security guards, all the while developing his unique “street style” of photography – a fluid style with creative energy, spontaneity and movement. A freelancer for more than 10 years, including 2 years in London where he worked with some of the UK’s premier photographers, Daniel has continued to develop his craft, carving out a niche in the competitive world of fashion photography.
