Just a quick scroll through Tom Simpson’s Instagram feed and it’s evident he brings a certain brand of European sophistication to the Australian men’s fashion arena. Sleek, modern and directional, Tom’s sense of style is as aspirational as it is effortless. In fact, so alluring is Tom’s sartorial touch, it’s actually near impossible to not stop and have a closer look at the man who is fast becoming one of Australia’s most influential fashion figures. Hailing from the UK, Tom is challenging the status quo for menswear, merging Italian inspired suiting, denim and contemporary style. Tom remembers as a child being the butt of many a joke for dressing up all the time and his love for all things fashion – but he was never one to let it bother him. Following his passion, he went on to study fashion design at University in Leeds where he learnt the art of pattern making, sewing and marketing but in his own words “essentially made dresses for several years”. Seeking a more masculine take on the world of fashion, Tom secured a position with Top Shop and Top Man in their London head office where he worked as a buyer in the suits, tailoring and boutique departments.
